He married Katharine Huntington (1845-1924) 24 June 1868 in Auburn, Cayuga County, New York, United States. Ancestors are from the United States, the United Kingdom.

The Huntington family in America (1915) says:

Mr. Bigelow is a clergyman, a graduate of Hamilton College, 1865, and of Auburn Theological Seminary, 1868. He was pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville. N. Y., from 1868 to 1872; of the Congregational Church in Pitcher, N. Y., from 1872 to 1877, and of the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Utica, N. Y., since 1877. He was Moderator of the Synod of New York from October, 1904, to October, 1905, and was given the degree of D.D., by Hamilton College in 1906.
