Colin Layton Rudder was born 20 June 1902 in the Royal Bank, Stanthorpe, Queensland, Australia to William Layton Rudder (1870-1936) and Anne Violet Raff (1877-1952) and died 17 June 1984 Queensland, Australia of unspecified causes. He married Margaret Bothwell Boys (1904-1979) 21 February 1931 in St. John's Cathedral, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

He served as a Staff Sergeant in the 2/25 Australian Infantry Battalion during World War II.
