Clara Emma Auber was born 24 December 1835 in Shoreditch, London, England, United Kingdom to John Auber (1783-1844) and Elizabeth Helsdon (1784-1858) and died 18 April 1884 110 Whitfield Street, St Pancras, London, England, United Kingdom of unspecified causes. She married William Thomas Coombs (1828-1885) 24 March 1856 in Hackney, London, England, United Kingdom.

Clara Emma Auber was born in 1835 in Shoreditch. She was the last daughter of John Auber and Elizabeth Auber but Elizabeth was 51 when she had Clara. Clara's middle name is that of her older sister Emma Auber who was 22 at the time. Emma went on to have 4 illegitimate children and she covered up the births. Emma and Clara are not with the rest of the Aubers in the 1841 census. It is likely that Clara was actually Emma's daughter and Emma's parents said they were the parents, when they were her grandparents. Clara later went to live with Elizabeth Auber once she wed Matthew Coombs.

  • They were both living down Grove Passage which ran parallel to Hackney main Road. A printers shop was there, run by Charles Green, maybe William had employment there.
