Still another old Hawkesburyite has passed away. Early on Sunday morning last Mr. Christopher Davis died at his residence in Macquarie-street, after ailing a few days. He resided in the district many years, and was well-known to all old residents. For a long time he carried on the business of a wheelright, but during past years, owing to old age and infirmities, he has not been in business, but lived quietly in his cottage in Macquarie-street.
Deceased was 80 years of age, and leaves a widow and grown-up family. He was interred in the Church of England last Monday, the following gentlemen being the pall-bearers : The Hon. William Walker, M.L.C., Mr. P. Carroll, Mr. J. Holmes, and Ald. J. J. Fitzpatrick. A good number of old residents attended the funeral. The Rev. S. G. Fielding conducted the burial service. Deceased, having been connected with the district so many years, was able to spin some good stories of the old times. Of late years he had been very infirm.
Mr. T. Primrose carried out the funeral arrangements.
