Mr. Charles Fittler, the grand old man of Spring Flat, Mudgee died in the local hospital on Monday last at the great age of 90 years. Deceased who spent practically the whole of his long and useful life in this district, was one of the hardy pioneers who had to overcome the many difficulties associated with life on the land in the early days, but he never shirked the job.
A man of sterling character, he naturally won the respect of his fellows, and on all sides it was freely recognised that his word was his bond. Friends in town and district will sincerely regret the passing of such a splendid character.
He is survived by a family of four sons and three daughters, all estimable citizens and they will have the deep sympathy of the whole community. The funeral took place to the Catholic portion of the general cemetery on Wednesday, the Rev.Father Maher officiating.
