Catherine Berrell was born circa 1822 in County Louth, Ireland to Michael Berrell (1796-1863) and Margaret Catherine Hoy (1781-1881) and died 22 March 1859 Crossing Place, Abercrombie River, New South Wales, Australia of childbirth. She married Thomas Francis (1801-1853) 14 March 1838 in Castlereagh, New South Wales, Australia. She married John Sharwood (1810-1884) 20 July 1854 in Goulburn, New South Wales, Australia.

She arrived in New South Wales with her mother and three siblings on the Surrey in 1831.
