The death, occurred at Mount St. Joseph's Old People's Home, Young, on 6th inst., of Mrs. Katherine Oldfield (73), who prior to entering the home 12 months ago, had been a lifelong resident of Wombat. Death was due to natural causes.
Mrs Oldfield led a quiet home life and did not participate in public affairs of any nature. She had a reputation for great kindliness to everybody, and she was always ready to give her assistance to the sick.
Two sons and one daughter survive and reside at Wombat. They are Frederick, Henry and Jessie.
Four sons and one daughter are deceased, Mrs. Oldfield's husband died nine years ago.
The body was taken to the Wombat Church of England, where a service was held at 3.30 on Friday afternoon. Canon McKeown officiated at the service and also at the graveside.
