I have reverted several cases where unregistered users have attempted to add their family names. The seem to assume the way to do it is by adding a category statement to this page. We need a short bit of text to tell them how to add their family name the right way, or at least not to do that. In the meantime I protected the page from edits by unregistered users. {{User:Phlox/Sig}} 18:48, November 17, 2009 (UTC)

:Sorry, ROB. "Category_talk:Surnames" was not a sensible place for a question about births. I noticed it here by accident. You didn't even mention your mother's surname. To answer the question, I would start by asking the Liverpool birth registration people whether newborns born at sea and making first landfall at Liverpool would be registered there. -- [[User:Robin Patterson|Robin Patterson]] ([[User talk:Robin Patterson|Talk]]) 01:50, May 16, 2017 (UTC)

A guidance statement is needed

I have reverted several cases where unregistered users have attempted to add their family names. The seem to assume the way to do it is by adding a category statement to this page. We need a short bit of text to tell them how to add their family name the right way, or at least not to do that. In the meantime I protected the page from edits by unregistered users. ~ Phlox 18:48, November 17, 2009 (UTC)
