Person-articles where no surname is given. Some of these are people who lived so many centuries ago that their names had nothing corresponding to "surname". Others clearly have surnames but need editing to include them in the proper parameter. Our templates make much use of surnames; any individual without one may be missed from lists or appear in an unexpected place in a list and therefore not be found by a searcher. For people such as Dutch who had a patronymic or similar second name but no "family-defining" surname, there could be value in entering the patronymic as surname, because that may be what some searchers are looking for (not knowing that it was not a true surname).
