Caroline Emma Parkins was born in 1884 in Brentford, Middlesex. Her parents were George Robert Parkins (1853-1906), a fisherman, and Caroline Sedgwick (1860-1920), a fishmonger(ess). She had a brother, James George Parkins (1886-1941). In 1903 in Brentford, Caroline married Oliver William Yeates (1878-1948), originally from Frome, Somerset, the son of William Henry Yeates (1847-1917) and Mary Ann Sheppard (1844-?), who were married in 1868.
