Word was received here on Saturday of the death of Mrs. William McMullen, a very old resident of Wollombi. Deceased had attained the great age of 85 years, and prior to her illness, which lasted only a few hours, had enjoyed fair health. Her husband predeceased her by eleven years. Mrs. McMullen had resided at Wollombi during the whole of her married life—a period of about 65 years. Mrs. Giles Moore and Mrs. E.J. Stevenson (Guyra), daughters, left for Wollombi on Saturday by the Glen Innes mail to attend the last sad rites. The funeral took place on Sunday, and was the largest ever seen in the district—showing the deep respect in which the deceased lady was held.
