Family lore has it that Brian and his twin brother Garret were both baptized Lutheran, presumably in the Chicago area, North Side or North or SW Suburbs. Member of First Evangelical Free Church (EFCA) in Andersonville, Chicago, during teens. Member of UBF (University Bible Fellowship) Chicago during 1990's. Did slight Missionary work for Pusan UBF in South Korea. Had contact with the Mormons while living in Mexico. Considers himself Protestant.

Married in a Civil Ceremony by a Justice of the Peace at the Courthouse in Alexandria. Bright, sunny day. They both took off from Lunch from the Army to get married. As far as the proposal goes, Brian proposed in June, 1986, and Ellen said yes. Then, Ellen changed her mind in about July, even though Brian's brother Garret had flown in to the DC area for the ceremony. Then in October, when Ellen realized Brian might come down on orders for overseas, she proposed to him and Brian said yes. They married on her daughter Heather Ellsberry's birthday. Seperated in Feb 1990, when Brian left for Chicago. Divorced in Feb 1991 in Greene County, Ohio.

Wedding Party/Dinner held at Mexican Restaurant in East Loop, Chicago, after Civil Ceremony. Chapaign and Mexican Food were served. Married over 20 years. Lived together in Chicago and Mexican state of Durango. Brian helped his wife gain U.S. Citizenship.
