Bad Breisig is a town in the Ahrweiler district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated on the Rhine, approx. 15 km south-east of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler.
Bad Breisig is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Bad Breisig.
Suburbs[]
Bad Breisig is mainly divided into the older, western part, Oberbreisig (Upper Breisig), and the newer, eastern part, Niederbreisig (Lower Breisig) which is situated directly on the Rhine.
Beware of confusion![]
Some genealogical place lists seem to suggest Brietzig instead of Breisig. Brietzig, however, is a place in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, about 600 km from Breisig.
