inGhana Liberation Day Monument
This person is listed on the Ghana Liberation Day Monument as one of several Ghana National Army soldiers who died on 24-Feb-1966, during fighting between forces loyal to the democratically elected government of the First Republic and those of a military-led coup (National Liberation Council). One side says that these men were veterans of WWII protesting government corruption, but the other side describes these men as part of the security detail for Brig General Barwah, Army Commander in Chief, who were all assassinated on that day. The end results was that President Kwame Nkrumah and his government, all political parties and Parliament were all dissolved in a coup d'état that placed Lieutenant-General Joseph Arthur Ankrah and his forces in charge.
