Aristide Basilescu was born 1892 in Bucharest, Romania to Nicolae Basilescu (1860-1938) and Ecaterina Pascal (c1865-1900) and died 1969 Romania of unspecified causes.

Aristide, a professor of political economy with the University of Bucharest was sacked in 1946 to make room for Communist professor Lucretiu Patrascanu. He was dismissed from the bar in 1947 and his family was thrown out of the houses they owned next to the entrance of Bazilescu park. The largest part of the estate and its outbuildings was bulldozed. They were told to leave the house in several hours. In 1949, Aristide and Aglae Bazilescu were sent into forced exile in Mizil. Bazilescu was arrested and spent his remaining years shuttled from one Communist prison to the next. He was freed in 1964 but died in 1969.
