At the age of six, Anna joined her parents and most of her siblings to travel to the Untied States. 1910 census lists the date as 1881.
The 1900 census states that she gave birth to three children, two of which were still living. The 1910 census shows seven children, six living. She ended her life with six surviving children. The infant was likely born after 1894, their marriage year, and must have died before June 6th, 1900, the date on which they were entered into the census.

Mrs. Anna Brecht was found dead in her home by her daughter, Mrs. Kathryn Wack, Thursday evening, May 13. Her death was attributed to a heart ailment.
The daughter of Victor and Anna Eschmidt Ockenfels, born April 14, 1875, in Germany, she came to this country with her parents at the age of six years. She had 12 brothers and sisters.
She married Joseph R. Brecht Nov. 22, 1894. He passed away July 29, 1944.
At the time of her death, she was 79 years old.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Wack of Norway; Mrs. Marie Spalding of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Loretta Schmuecker of Watkins; three sons, John of Strawberry Point; Frank of Norway; and Victor of Earlville; 21 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Michael's church in Norway, Sunday, May 16, at 9 a.m. with Rev. Nicholas Krull officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's cemetery.
