Alice Ann Paine was born in Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire in 1847. Her parents were James Paine (c1825-?) and Sarah (c1827-?). Her siblings were:
- James Albert Ellis Paine (1849-1929), managing director for cutlery company.
- Sizzie Paine (c1851-?)
Marriage and Children[]
In 1879 Alice Paine married Samuel Ebenezer Saunders, a farmer and seed merchant. They had the following children:
- Agnes Mary L Saunders (1880-?)
- Edith Alice L Saunders (1884-?)
- Elizabeth Kathleen L Saunders (c1887-?)
- Cecilia Lucie L Saunders (1889-?), married George L Brown (1866-1925) in 1915.
In 1881 they were living at 84 Clayhithe Road, Horningsea with a nursemaid and a housemaid.
Later Life[]
Alice Saunders passed away in 1935 in Cambridge aged eighty-eight.
