Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt was born 20 October 1877 in New York City, New York, United States to Cornelius Vanderbilt (1843-1899) and Alice Claypoole Gwynne (1845-1934) and died 7 May 1915 at the Sinking of the RMS Lusitania of drowned at sea. He married Ellen French (1879-1948) 11 January 1901 in Newport, Rhode Island, United States. He married Margaret Emerson (1884-1960) 17 December 1911 in London, England, United Kingdom.
