Alexis May Howlett - died 13 dec 1938 after a fall from the Gledden Building, cnr of Hay & William Streets, Perth, Western Australia.

Miss Howlett's father, Harold Aubrey Howlett, carpenter, of Banksia-terrace, South Perth, said he last saw his daughter alive at 4 p.m. on December 13. About 20 years ago she had a bad attack of typhoid fever which affected her health. She suffered from melancholia and depression and since 1924 had made three attempts on her life. Three weeks before her death she went on a Salvation Army picnic to National Park and injured her right arm in a bus accident on the way out. For some years she had been receiving an invalid pension.

Dr. D. S. McKenzie said that death was due to severe multiple injuries and a badly fractured skull.

The Acting-Coroner found that deceased died from injuries received when she jumped down the light-well when suffering from mental depression.
